Dream BIG… You’re not alone

August 19th, 2010

The summer is winding down.

We’ve had a record number of 90+ degree days
here in New York City. It gets especially hot here
in Manhattan where you have a lot of tall buildings
that block any breeze so you have the sweltering sun
just beating down on you.

It’s hot and muggy and humid and God help you
if you don’t have air-conditioning. Fortunately, we
have Central Park, acres and acres of tall shady trees,
green grass and no cars. It’s a great place to hang out.

If you walk about a half mile going west, to the end, you
have the Mighty Hudson River where Christopher Columbus
sailed. And all along the Hudson, you have green grass and
trees and a cool breeze that continually blows off the river.

A perfect place to cool off, relax, throw a picnic or just
enjoy the view. Most outsiders and foreigners don’t think
of these things when they think about New York City.

They think about the hustle and bustle of Wall Street
or the theatre district, 42nd Street or the jewelry district
around 49th St and 5th Ave. But remember, Manhattan
is an island, surrounded on all four sides by water.

So, no matter where you are, uptown, downtown, east or
west, there is always a great body of water not that far away.
Great places to relax, throw a picnic and just enjoy the beauty.

If you’re stressing out because your websites aren’t bringing
in the visitors you expected, or your email campaign flops,
or you’re not making any sales and no money is coming in…

You’re Not Alone!

That’s what most people trying to make a fortune on the
internet are going through. If you’re anything like me, and
get a couple hundred emails per day from what seems like
every marketer on the planet… STOP.

If it seems like everyone is making money except YOU… STOP!
You’re not alone. There are a couple dozen or maybe a few
dozen people making a boatload of money.

You hear from them every day, you get their emails everyday.
You start to think you’re the only one NOT making money.
But the reality is…

Millions of Internet Marketing Wannabes ain’t making a dime.

You’re not alone. You’re in the majority. I know that doesn’t
make you feel any better, but it gives you a better perspective.
Don’t give up your hopes and dreams… Dream Big!

But have a backup plan in case the dream is taking too long.

Yankee Hanky Panky - No Thanky

November 3rd, 2009

Since I’m a Native New Yorker and everyone in New York City
is talking about the NY Yankees, I feel compelled to write about the game.

Although the Yanks did not have the “Happy Ending” that men desire,
it was still an exciting, sit on the edge of your seat ball game.

AJ Burnett, the Yankee’s pitcher on 3 day rest, lasted only 2+ innings.
Chase Utley blasted a 3 run homer in the 3rd and the Phillies took the lead 3-1.

When the Philly carnage was finished, Burnett gave up 6 runs, walked 4,
was constantly behind in counts and was finally ousted in the 3rd inning.

Then, in the 7th inning Chase Utley went deep again for his second homer
of the game (tying Reggie Jackson’s world series 5 homer record).
Score 7-2 Phillies.

Before the inning was ended, Philadelphia blasted another solo homer making
the score a heartbreaking 8-2. At that point, it looked like the game was over
for New York.

However, In the top of the ninth inning, the Yankee electricity began to flow.
The score was now 8-5 and the Yankees had 2 men on base with…
the Savior - Derek Jeter at bat.

Derelict Jeter hit into a double play.
But a run was scored making it 8-6.

Hideki Matsui then cracks a base hit keeping hope alive. A Homer would tie it up.
But just like in the poem - there was no joy in Mudville…
The Mighty Casey has struck out and the Yankees lost 8-6.

But, that’s OK.

The Yanks want to win in their home town in their new stadium.
Phillies Folly will be on Wednesday!

The Yankees will be heading back home and resting up on Tuesday.
I will be writing about SEX. Make sure you bookmark this site and check back!

New York City Marathon and Super-Sports Sunday

November 1st, 2009

Super Sports Sunday - New York City Style

New York City has been called by many as “The Greatest City in the World.”
With a hectic weekend like this weekend, it’s easy to see why.

First off, yesterday was Halloween and the 36th Annual New York’s Village
Halloween Parade. Anyone in costume participated and marched On 6th Avenue
from Spring Street to 21st Street. It’s one of the wildest and funnest parades
in the nation.

There were hundreds of Puppets, 53 Bands of Different Types of Music, Dancers
Artists, and Thousands of other New Yorkers in Costumes of their Own Creation
parading in the Nation’s Most Wildly Creative Public Participatory Event.

Today should be called Super Sports Sunday. Nov 1, 2009 marked the
40th running of the ING New York City Marathon. Mayor Michael Bloomberg
called it the “Largest Sporting Event in the World.”

Over 42,000 runners from every corner of the world participated in this race.
And what an exciting event it was. For the first time in 27 years
(since Alberto Salazar won the NY race in 1982), an American won
the prestigious event.

Meb Keflezighi ran the 26.2 mile race in 2 hours 9 minutes and 15 seconds
(six seconds quicker than the time he recorded in London earlier this year).

Some Words of wisdom from Meb after the race… “Dream your dream. Don’t give up.”
The female winner is 37-year-old Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia. She ran the route
in 2:28:52 beating out the favorite and winner in 2008 and 2007 - Paula Radcliff.

Derartu Tulu is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 10-thousand meter race
in 1992. Tulu will go down in history as one of the all-time greatest distance
runners. She has excelled in all three disciplines, track, road, and cross
country and at Age 37 making an unbelievable comeback.

Paula led the pack in first place for about 90% of the race but looked like
she was having some difficulty near the end and only managed 4th place.

I thought it a bit ironic (and kind of cruel) that Paula Radcliff received
no publicity, no televised interview and no more camera time after she
finishes 4th.

The 3 time winner and the defending champion who won in 2008 and 2007
and who the camera had been focused on for most of the race (because she
was in 1st place about 90% of the time) disappeared from view when she lost.

The cameras shunned her.

4th place does not get you on the podium with the top 3 winners.
The camera immediately cut Paula out of the pictures and forget all about her.

Another Superstar who got cut out of the limelight was losing Giants football
quarterback, Eli Manning. The Giants played a lackluster game against
The Philadelphia Eagles. They had no sense of urgency even though they
were behind by 23 points.

They started out the season so well winning 5 games straight.
Now, they’re playing terrible.
It was unbelievable how many times Manning’s passes got deflected
by the Eagle defense. It’s no wonder the Giants got clobbered 40 - 17.
Goes to show you, you’re only as good as your last win.

The New York / Philadelphia rivalry continues Tonight,

“The Beatles of Baseball” - The New York Yankees, will give a
New York style beat down in Philadelphia on the Philadelphia Phillies in
game 4 of the MLB World Series.

One thing I noticed about these sporting events that they all had in common.
The participants are all athletes in top physical shape. Out of the 42,000
runners in the marathon, I didn’t notice any overweight people. NONE.

Just goes to show you that training for a marathon, will burn off bodyfat.
If you would like to burn off some excess bodyfat, check out this site:

A Stroke ain’t no Joke

October 27th, 2009

The other day I was performing at the Boogie Woogie Institute
here in New York City. I was having a conversation with two of
the other piano players.

Peter was telling Ben about their mutual piano teacher (I forget his name).
They said this guy was incredible. He could play piano in anybody’s style
and sound just like the original artist. And he was blind.

It turns out that one day while Peter was having his lesson,
the piano teacher started talking “funny.” He was repeating himself
around 6 times and saying other things that didn’t make any sense.

Sensing something wrong, they took him to the hospital.
But, it was too late. The man had had a stroke.

He survived, but he was never the same again.
He lost all his piano skills and forgot much of what he once knew.
It’s very sad… A blind man losing the one skill he excelled at.

I received this email the other day which may (or may not) be true.
I don’t know if it’s from a legitimate source or not.

I’m not a doctor or medical person so I don’t endorse this procedure.
I will make this comment… If a person is having a stroke…
CALL 911 immediately and get an ambulance.

Since the email pertains to a person having a stroke, I’ll pass it along…
This is the email in it’s entirety…
A NEEDLE CAN SAVE THE LIFE OF A STROKE PATIENT-

From a Chinese  Professor.
Keep a syringe or needle in your home to do this…

It’s amazing and an unconventional way of recovering from stroke,
read  it through… it can help somebody one day.

This is amazing. Please keep this very handy. It’s an Excellent tip.
You’ll never know, ones life may depend on you.?

My father was paralyzed and later died from the result of a stroke.
I  wish I knew about this first aid before.

When stroke strikes, the capillaries in the brain will gradually burst.
(Irene Liu)

When a stroke occurs, stay calm.

No matter where the victim is, do not move him/her.
Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst.

Help the victim to sit up where he/she is to prevent him/her
from falling over again and then the blood letting can begin.

If you have in your home an injection syringe that would be the best.
Otherwise, a sewing needle or a straight pin will do.

1. Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it and then use it to
prick the tip of all ……10 fingers.

2. There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about a mm
from the fingernail.

3. Prick till blood comes out.

4. If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with your fingers.

5. When all 10 digits are bleeding, wait a few minutes…
then the victim will regain consciousness.

6. If the victim’s mouth is crooked, then pull on his ears until they are red.

7. Then prick each earlobe twice until two drops of blood comes from
each earlobe.  After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.

Wait till the victim regains his normal state without any abnormal symptoms,
THEN, take him/her to the hospital.

Otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital,
the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst.

If he could save his life, barely managing to walk, then it is by the
grace of his ancestors.

‘I learned about letting blood to save life from Chinese traditional
doctor, Ha Bu Ting, who lives in Sun Juke.

Furthermore, I had practical experience with it.
Therefore, I can say this method is 100% effective.

In 1979, I was teaching in Fung Gaap College in Tai Chung.

One afternoon, I was teaching a class when another teacher came running
to my classroom and said in panting, ‘Ms Liu, come quick, our
supervisor has had a stroke!’. I immediately went to the 3rd floor.

When I saw our supervisor, Mr. Chen Fu Tien, his colour was off, his speech
was slurred, his mouth was crooked - all the symptoms of a stroke.

I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy
outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen’s
10 fingers tips.

When all 10 fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of
blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen’s face regained its colour and
his eyes’ spirit returned, too.

But his mouth was still crooked. So I pulled on his ears to fill them
with blood. When his ears became red,  I pricked his right earlobe twice
to let out two drops of blood.

When both earlobes had two drops of blood each, a miracle happened.
Within 3-5 minutes the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his
speech became clear.

We let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea, then we helped
him go down the stairs, drove him to Wei Wah Hospital . He rested one
night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.

Everything worked normally.
There were no ill after effects.

On the other hand, the usual stroke victim usually suffers Irreparable
bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital.

As a result, these victims never recover.’ (Irene Liu) Therefore, stroke
is the second cause of death. The lucky ones will stay alive but can
remain paralyzed for life.

It is such a horrible thing to happen in ones life.

If we can all remember this blood letting method and start the life
saving process immediately, in a short time, the victim will be
revived and regain 100% normality.

IF POSSIBLE PLEASE FORWARD THIS AFTER READING .
YOU NEVER KNOW IT MAY HELP SAVE A  Life FROM STROKE.

END OF EMAIL.
__________________________________________________________

Once again, I don’t know if any of this is true…
You should Call 911 immediately.

I do know from listening to Ben and Peter,
… that a Stroke ain’t no joke.

Rockin’ The Blues…

October 18th, 2009

I just got back from playing piano and blues harp at the Boogie Woogie Institute
on Park Ave in New York City. Man, I rocked the house with my rendition of
UPS Blues in which I sing, play some funky piano riffs and a killer harmonica.

The crowd loved it and called me back for an encore.
Then David Cohen, who use to play with Country Joe and the Fish
(they played at Woodstock). David has play with such greats as Jimi Hendrix
and many others, asked me to come up and sit in with him.

So, I played harp while David played guitar and this 22 year old kid, Ben Laufer
played this rousing boogie woogie number that electrified the house.

The audience was clapping and cheering as we took solos and then
put it all together for a rousing finish. This kid on piano was one of the best
piano players I’ve ever heard in my entire life, Ever! - as soulful as Ray Charles
and as funky as Stevie Wonder… And he’s a White Guy.

Just goes to show you that anyone with soul can play the blues.
If you’d like to learn how to play piano like a pro, there is a new website
still under development:

http://www.LearnHowToPlayKeyboard.com

It’s a new site and they will be adding some free lessons to it soon
so be sure to bookmark it.

People with the “Swine Flu” (H1N1) virus can spread
the infection while sick the same way as seasonal flu…

Through respiratory droplets that are released
as when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Scientists believe that they may remain contagious for up to
24 hours after their symptoms resolve.

To protect Yourself from the Swine Flu, take the same
precautions you would to avoid regular seasonal flu…

- Wash Your Hands frequently with soap and water or
an alcohol-based hand cleaner.

If you should have influenza or a fever or a cough:

- Stay home until your symptoms resolve.

- Don’t return to work or school until you have been well
for at least 24 hours.

- Avoid going to the hospital if you have mild flu-like
symptoms such as fever and cough.

People with Swine Flu usually recover without medical treatment.

- Rest, drink plenty of liquids and take the medications
you would normally use to treat symptoms.

- Cover your mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing.

- Clean your hands afterwards, using soap and warm water
or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Here in New York City, this swine flu problem is continuing to spread
with 32 New York City Schools closed because of possible exposure
to the virus and 240 confirmed Swine Flu cases.

You could go to work one day and catch this terrible virus.

That’s just one more reason you’ll be glad to start your own
profitable home business.

You won’t have to go to work for anyone else.
No office. No interaction with germ ridden people.

You’ll just enjoy working from the comfort and safety

“Swine flu” - Not For YOU!

May 20th, 2009

The “swine flu” is caused by a newly identified influenza virus
called the H1N1 (SO).

The virus is genetically related to influenza viruses found
in pigs and birds.

Since April 2009, it has caused outbreaks of flu-like illness
among people in New York City and in many countries
around the world.

The symptoms appear to be similar to those of seasonal flu
and usually include fever accompanied by cough, sore throat,
fatigue, headache, body aches, lethargy, stuffy nose or chills.

Transmission is thought to occur through respiratory droplets
that are released when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can infect people in close proximity.

People with H1N1 flu can spread the infection while sick and
scientist believe that they may…

Remain contagious for up to 24 hours
after their symptoms resolve.

WARNING: This Solution Is NOT FDA Approved

Here in New York City, this swine flu problem is rapidly spreading
with 22 public schools closed because of possible exposure
to the virus,

It seems scary to me that you could go to work one day
and catch this terrible virus.

That’s just one more reason you’ll be glad to start your own

Cut energy consumption in bldg 10% Overnight

April 28th, 2009

Sean Bell - Civil Disobedience in Harlem…

May 8th, 2008

Today was a beautiful day in New York City.
The sky was bright, blue sky, it was a warm, sunny 75 degrees.

I decide to go for a walk in Harlem down 125th St.
I’m walking from Malcolm X Blvd aka Lenox Ave heading east
past the shops, store keepers and street merchants
I see a woman wearing a “We are all Sean Bell T-shirt”.

As I stroll past 5th Ave in front of 55 E 125th St
(where ex-President Bill Clinton has an office)
I see a man with a giant placard reading…

Diallo - 41 SHOTS
 SEAN BELL - 50 SHOTS
 WHO’S NEXT - 100 SHOTS

I look up in the sky and I see an NYPD helicopter
flying around in circles overhead.

I walk past Madison Ave, Park Ave and I see a woman
carrying a sign that reads… “Jail Racist Cops”.

As I get to 125th St and Lexington Ave I see a hugh
crowd of people standing in the middle of the street.

Traffic is stalled by gridlock in all 4 directions and the cars
trying to get the next 3 blocks down 125th to get to the
Triborough Bridge start honking their horns in frustration.

The crowd is gathered in a circle in the middle of the street.
I hear the crowd yelling… 49, 50, 51, 52, 53…
In the middle of the crowd is a woman jumping rope.

The crowd is playing jump rope in the middle of the intersection
of 125th and Lexington. Orderly civil disobedience obstructing
traffic and protesting the Sean Bell verdict.

Marching up 125th St from 3rd Ave, I see a couple dozen
New York Police Department Officers marching down the street
in formation. (It reminded me of Storm Troopers).

Attached to their belts was something that looked like ropes.
It turns out to be plastic ties which they use like handcuffs.
They are each carrying about a dozen of them.

Just then a school bus (only it was painted blue with the letters
NYPD on the side) makes it way up the street.
Inside the bus you could see a few detainees sticking their heads
out the open windows.

I could tell they were detainees because they didn’t have use of
their hands or arms, which were handcuffed behind them with
those plastic ties.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the intersection, the woman finally
missed the jump rope and was replaced by another jumper.

The police pulled out their bullhorns and told the crowd
that if they didn’t move from the middle of the intersection
they would be arrested.

All along 125th St (which is also called Dr Martin Luther King Jr
Blvd) from 3rd Ave to Lexington were parked police vans,
just waiting to take some arrestees to jail.

Interestingly enough, many of the police officers had cameras
and were taking pictures of the rope jumpers and the crowd.

SHOWTIME….
Either Bail or Go to Jail.

Perhaps they looked at the faces of the people in the Police Bus
sticking their head out the windows, who were on their way to jail,
or perhaps it was something else, but the crowd decided to move
out of the intersection and let the cars pass.

The police helicopter overhead flew out of sight, traffic returned
to normal and people went on with their busy lives.
Another interesting day in Harlem, New York City.

Don’t tolerate financial injustice.

The Great Debaters - Denzel Washington

January 8th, 2008

Denzel Washington was the Best Man at my sister’s wedding.

My brother-in-law went to Fordham University with Denzel Washington.
They’ve remained good friends through the years.

Through him, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the premier
of Denzel’s latest movie - The Great Debaters.

The premier was held at the Ziegfeld Theater on 54th Street and
Ave of the Americas in New York City. Over 1,000 people attended.

We were greeted in the lobby with fine champagne, the largest
strawberries you’ve ever seen covered in Godiva chocolate and
a host of other sinfully delicious treats.

The
While standing around enjoying my champagne, imagine my surprise
when I turned around and Forest Whitaker, the co-star of the movie
was standing right behind me.

Also in attendance at the theater were two of other stars in the movie,
Jurnee Smollett and Nate Parker. Both were very friendly and
gladly posed for pictures with the crowd.

And what a crowd it was. The most beautiful women in New York
showed up dressed to impress along with New York’s most eligible
bachelors. It was indeed a fun night to remember.
After our fill of champagne, we were ushered into the main theater.
We had some of the best seats in the house, right in the center.

The star and director of the movie, Denzel Washington, who was
dressed very casual, got up on stage and said a few words to his
adoring fans in the crowd.

Then the lights dimmed and the movie began.

The Great Debaters is the remarkable story of Wiley College’s
winning debate team of the early 1930’s. Wiley’s polished
debate team, coached by the brilliant professor Melvin B Tolson
(played by Denzel) amassed a series of victories over white
competitors that stunned the racist Jim Crow South.

Even though the great debaters on the Wiley team beat the
reigning champions, they were not allowed to call themselves
victors because they did not belong to the debate society,
(which did not allow blacks until after World War II).

The movie is gripping and compelling to watch from beginning
until the very end. The entire audience was hanging on every word.
Everything in the film is perfect, the music, the acting, the cinematography.

The movie was so good that the audience was actually clapping
at the movie screen and gave a standing ovation to the screen
at the end. It was a very moving and powerful film.
You won’t be able to forget it. I urge everyone to go see it.

If you would like to start your New Year 2008 off with someone special
a new website has been developed to “hook you up” with the beautiful,
available singles, looking for Love.
